Just watched the film today and I love this reading of it. I don't usually like when an existing character is made less morally complex by a modern adaptation, but I think Nolan was able pick and choose the points of conflict in Odysseus's character in a way that tells a very coherent and compelling story.

Brilliantly captures the complexity of Odysseus’s predicament caught between heroic godliness and a warrior’s guilt. This is a lot of the tension that motivates the film. Loved this reading.
